Support Our Work

"Generous hands are blessed hands, because they give bread to the poor." Proverbs 22v9

Fundraising events are a good way for people to have fun and raise money for us at the same time! We hold regular events throughout the year and these can vary from anything like ceilidh dancing to our annual Charity Golf Day.

You can also raise funds for our work by arranging your own event, there are so many ideas of things you can organise, and the only limit is your imagination!

Fundraising Events for 2006

Glasgow City Mission is planning a host of varied events during 2006.

You can take part in our annual Charity Golf Day at Haggs Castle on Wednesday 30th August.

Jim Leishman, manager of Dumfermline FC is our special guest speaker.

You could also join us for a Sponsored Walk, the 'Sperrins Progressive Challenge', a 3 day walk in the centre of Northern Ireland.  This takes place from Fri 22nd to Mon 25th September 2006.

If you would like to know more about any of our events, or have any new fundraising ideas,

please call Lynne Bennett on 0141 445 8608 or e-mail Lynne@glasgowcitymission.com

Organising Your Own Event

Why not host an event on our behalf, it’s a great way to have fun and support a

worthwhile cause at the same time!  Here are a few ideas to get you thinking!

  • Get active and do a sponsored walk, or cycle or sponsored anything!
  • Hold a party, ceilidh or disco and add a donation on to the ticket price
  • Ask people to donate money to us in lieu of birthday or anniversary gifts
  • Arrange a Fun Day or Fete
  • If you have a special talent, think of imaginative ways to use it to raise funds
  • Hire out your services for the day, for example if a friend needs help with some DIY
  • Fundraise at work by arranging a dress down day, or, if you’re the boss, charge people

to leave one hour early on a Friday!

As with many charities, our resources are limited and we are not able to help with the actual

arranging of the event or supplying volunteers to help out. We can however help with things like

providing sponsor sheets and giving you tips on how to get the most out of your event.

  Donating Food

We are always looking for tins of food, which we give out at The Shieling. We need:

• Beans & Spaghetti

We are always looking for charity donations of tins of food which we give out out at The Shieling.

• Ravioli & Macaroni Cheese

• Soups & Puddings

• Meat & Fish

It is more helpful to us if you could only bring us tins of food, as we can’t use rice, pasta, etc. If you have a collection of food to drop off, please bring it to our office.
