The Glasgow Winter Night Shelter provides more than just a safe place to sleep for those who would otherwise be rough sleeping during the cold winter nights. We work hard with our partners to help people move onto suitable accommodation.
On Friday night the Teen Challenge bus was parked outside the night shelter. Elyse, night shelter manager, went on board to say hello. She says, “Once aboard one of the volunteers asked me if I remembered him. I said yes, he was a guest with us the year before.
Making connections
“He told me that at the night shelter last year one of the staff members linked him in with a project worker at Glasgow City Mission who then got him into a rehab. He told me he is now nine months clean – all because of the connections he made when staying at the night shelter.
“He was looking so well and was so thankful. It is amazing to think that last year he stayed with us but this year he was in a position to help others!”
Please join us in praying that for some of our guests, their time at the night shelter will be the first step towards a changed life.
