Our Housing Settlement Officers, Pam and Lorna, and our Overnight Welcome Centre Manager, Elyse, have been supporting guests who first started arriving at our Overnight Welcome Centre last December.

They have been advocating for hundreds of guests and have been able to get positive outcomes with people getting into accommodation or being repatriated. At times, this has meant ensuring that the houses are appropriately fitted out with furniture, carpets and white goods.

One of our partners in these endeavours is the Castlemilk Furniture Project who have ensured many of our guests are able to turn houses they have been given, into homes they want to live in. This brings dignity to our guest and helps them feel settled and secure in their new home.

Last week the Project helped fully furnish one guest’s entire flat including all her white goods, for free!  You can see the van full and ready to be unloaded in the attached photograph.

We are very thankful for the work the Castlemilk Furniture Project do and we look forward to settling many more of our guests into homes they can thrive in.
