This week in our blog, we take a look at one of our regular contributors, Marion Carson, and some of the areas of ministry that she is passionate about.

Marion is our chaplain and besides working for Glasgow City Mission, Marion is a freelance writer, teacher and trainer. She is often asked to speak at conferences, particularly in the areas of human trafficking, mental health and pastoral care. She is a Senior Research Fellow at the International Baptist Theological Study Centre in Amsterdam and an Honorary Fellow of New College, University of Edinburgh.

She has written several books, including The Pastoral Care of People with Mental Health Problems (SPCK 2007); Human Trafficking, the Bible and the Church (SCM 2017) and most recently (with Ruth Robb) Walk into freedom: Christian Outreach to People involved in Commercial Sexual Exploitation (People’s Seminary Press 2021).

Last year she gave three talks about freedom in our times at the European Freedom Network (EFN) Bridge Conference. We all want to see slavery and exploitation eradicated but what is the reality for those who are not free? These talks, titled Learning To Be Free, were recorded and can be viewed here:
