This week a group of us gathered in the space we are going to use for the Women’s Restoration Project. We met to dedicate the space to God and look forward with hope. Our space is ready to use, we have trained our volunteers, and we look forward to the restoration that will happen in women’s lives.
The Women’s Restoration work is headed up by Leeanne Cumlin and Linda McCabe, with a team of volunteers. The Women’s work will be a mixture of drop-ins open to any woman, and groups by invitation only. The group will use projects like Upcycling Furniture, with an optional Bible study afterwards. The focus is on restoration and healing.
Upcycling and restoring a physical object is one way women can gently engage with the theme of how a heart and mind can be restored. Physically restoring a piece of furniture and creating something useful out of an object which at first seemed useless, reinforces the message that it is possible to have restoration in your heart.
Our Chaplain Marion read the following words from the Bible to the gathering, as we look ahead to how God can restore women’s lives. “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21.
