We met JK on 9 August 2023 and offered to support him with housing needs and addiction issues. We contacted Glasgow City Council and were able to secure him accommodation at St Enoch’s Hotel before supported him to engage with The CAT Team at Possil Health Centre to commence oral rehydration treatment.

We met with JK the following day and arranged a telephone assessment for The Carpenter’s Arms Rehab in Loughborough. We heard back on 19 August that he had secured a bed there and would commence treatment on the 22 August. We drove JK to Loughborough ourselves to ensure safe travel and continuity of care, and we are delighted to say that he completed his treatment in May 2024. He is now living in Harrogate and working two days a week as a landscaper. He has even begun reaching out to others struggling with homelessness and addiction and offering support.

During JK’s stay in rehab, we spoke with him on a fortnightly basis offering support and encouragement as he went through the various stages of the programme. It can be a difficult time for guests leaving them feeling isolated and often with little contact with family or loved ones. It is for these reasons that we keep the relationship alive. All these efforts can often be the difference between guests staying engaged in treatment and leaving early. Over JK’s time in treatment, we have discussed his future plans and we have watched as he has been restored to his children and his father.

JK’s story has been a real encouragement to us, and to the countless others who have prayed for him over this period.
