Cycling over 1,000 miles across the UK from Land’s End to John O’ Groats is an epic expedition by any measure. For Sandra and Steve, it’s not just about the physical challenge or the immense sense of accomplishment—it’s a journey that carries deep personal meaning.

Steve was inspired to take on this challenge by the stories and photographs he found of his late Mum, who cycled this route as a young woman. As Steve did not have a chance to get to know his Mum well, cycling this route provides a unique opportunity for him to feel connected to her again. To share this meaningful experience with Steve, his wife Sandra has embraced a challenging training schedule to improve her fitness so that they can tackle the journey together. The couple feel ready to fully embrace the experience. They are looking forward to immersing themselves in the range of sights, sounds and even smells along their extensive journey to get them through spells of poor weather, never-ending hills, psychological barriers and physical exhaustion.

Fundraising for Glasgow City Mission makes this challenge extra special for Sandra and Steve. When they lived in England, they observed the positive impact of delivering Christian care to vulnerable people at Coventry City Mission. Now that they live in Glasgow, they want to fundraise for a charity that provides targeted support for their local community, whom they care deeply about, where they can clearly see the impact that their donations make. After witnessing the effectiveness of holistic, faith-based support that local people experiencing homelessness poverty and addiction receive at Glasgow City Mission, they felt excited to raise money for a cause that they believe in.

Could you support Sandra and Steve as they tackle one of the most difficult challenges of their lives? Could your donation provide the inspiration that this couple needs to keep going when all they want to do is give up?

Along their journey, you will see the impact of your support as we will be sharing updates on their progress, their challenges and their unique experiences along the way.
