VISION AND VALUES

To see our city and its people flourish and know fullness of life

Our values

  • We treat each person as unique and valuable, created in the image of God
  • We cherish deep and authentic community
  • We welcome all with compassion and unconditional love

Our ministry

Glasgow City Mission is the world’s first City Mission and has been at the forefront of compassionate care for the city’s marginalised since 1826. We offer spirit-led, faith-filled community to vulnerable adults and children within the city, by fighting against poverty and disadvantage in Glasgow. We strive to constantly adapt to the changing needs of our age and the specific needs of those we meet.

Backing up this statement is our Vision document. This document covers the three years from 2020 to 2023 and it sets out where we are at present and how we would like to develop and increase the work we do in Glasgow with those affected by homelessness and poverty.

Through our three projects – Child and Family Centre, City Centre Project and Overnight Welcome Centre – we intend to go further, deeper and wider with our guests for their benefit.

Safeguarding

We give paramount importance to the welfare of children and vulnerable adults with whom we are in contact. We have a zero tolerance policy to bullying, harassment and the abuse of power, causing harm or putting others at the risk of harm or other forms of misconduct. We take safeguarding seriously and work hard to protect vulnerable individuals from harm. At times this principle may take precedence over other policies and principles such as confidentiality and data protection.
