Hidden homeless: our summer Connect magazine is out now

Rough sleeping is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to understanding who is homeless in Glasgow. More than 6,000 homeless applications were made to Glasgow City Council in 2015/16. Many of these people have a roof of some sort over their heads but can have a long wait for a home of their own.

Graham and David

This issue of Connect explores hidden homelessness in Glasgow. Read about Graham, pictured above, and his struggles in and out of hostels and temporary accommodation.
We hope you are encouraged as you read about the Housing First model which is being introduced in Glasgow. This model has proven to be successful at ending homelessness in all its forms.

Be encouraged too as you read about our revamped Urban Café – made possible thanks to one faithful supporter. The expanded services we can now provide offer hope and a way forward for many more people.

And 25 of our nursery children will start school this autumn thanks to early interventions from our Child and Family Centre. Vital work is taking place in Govan to give children the best start possible in life.
