Stories from the street

This ‘Story from the Street’ comes after Street Outreach workers Linda and Craig met a vulnerable gentleman who had forgotten how to get home.

The street team Our Street Outreach team came across an elderly gentleman lying on the pavement, surrounded by his belongings and clearly disorientated. The team had met the man the previous week when they learned he had recently been provided with a furnished flat following some time in emergency accommodation.

During conversation they realised that he had forgotten the location of the flat and was preparing to bed down for a night on the streets. Following a quick phone call to the Council homelessness team, with whom we have a good relationship, the team were able to negotiate a taxi which took the man safely home and saved him from an extremely undesirable night on the street.

It’s great to know that even though our building is closed we are still able to work in partnership with other agencies to help and care for the most vulnerable in the city.

Please pray for the team as they walk the streets and give thanks that their presence is making a real difference.
