GIFT IN WILL

Leave a lasting legacy

David Nasmith left a lasting legacy when he started Glasgow City Mission way back in 1826.

His vision of showing Christian love to those affected by homelessness and poverty was to spread around the world. Today, we continue his work, demonstrating God’s love to families and individuals struggling with homelessness, addiction, loneliness, unemployment or mental health issues. Everyone who comes to us is made in God’s image and we want to help them fulfil their potential.

Why your gift is so important?

Leaving a gift in your Will to Glasgow City Mission will enable us to continue with our work in Glasgow. It will allow us to plan ahead and help people for generations to move forward to a fuller life. Once you’ve taken care of your loved ones, a gift in your Will whether big or small can make a substantial difference to those affected by homelessness and poverty in Glasgow.

How to leave a gift in your Will

You can leave a legacy to Glasgow City Mission by creating a Will or amending your existing Will. Legacies help ensure the sustainability of our work and gives us the confidence to plan new ventures.

Your solicitor can help you decide what’s best for you. You can choose to leave:

  • a share of your estate – a percentage share is particularly helpful as this will keep pace with inflation
  • a fixed sum
  • a specific item such as a piece of jewellery, assets or shares.

Any gift you make is exempt from inheritance tax because Glasgow City Mission is a charity. You may want to consult your solicitor to ensure your will is up-to-date, valid and reflects your intentions.
