We have been supporting JW since February 2022 and have watched him take great strides forward in his recovery. He came to us desperate to break free from heroin and cocaine addiction but was not able to access a rehab space.
JW was on a particularly high dose of methadone, which proved difficult for us to secure a bed for him to detox. We managed a reduction in his methadone prescription and were then able to secure a bed for him at The Haven, Kilmacolm, in May 2023.
To this point, he had done amazingly well engaging in our group work and 1-2-1 support, making every effort to keep himself busy. We are delighted to report that JW graduated from The Haven in August 2023 and started as an Intern here at the Mission studying for an SVQ 3 award in Health and Social Care.
He is a great asset to the work at the Mission and really connects well with our guests. He is now fully restored to his family and enjoying being a father to his kids. The Rehab Pathways Team are continuing to support JW in securing a permanent tenancy, and then when the time is right we will help JW find meaningful employment.
