Happy Nowruz to all our guests and supporters!

Today we are delighted to celebrate Iranian New Year at Glasgow City Mission. This special day signifies the arrival of spring, with the promise of renewed hope which we wish for all of our guests at the Mission experiencing homelessness, poverty and addiction.

The Iranian New Year reminds us of the people we meet at the Mission who have come to crisis points in their lives, and are looking for a second chance. Most of these individuals have experienced trauma such as threats and violence, bereavement from a loved one or the loss of their home. These events have uprooted their lives and replaced stability with chaos. Many of them have lost their way in addiction, or struggled to maintain jobs and relationships that kept them grounded.

Offering food and most importantly, connection and compassion, at our City Centre Project has given us the honour of watching guests take this opportunity to turn their lives around. While they might initially come for a hot meal and a cup of tea, many of them take the courageous step to access wider support such as our addiction recovery support groups, our employability workshops or our English conversation classes.

At Glasgow City Mission as we celebrate Iranian New Year, we celebrate the fresh start of so many of our guests. We hope everyone enjoys this special day, and wish you all a successful New Year!
